I am a bilingual, Spanish-speaking, therapist and licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) with a Masters in Social Work from Loyola University Chicago. I received my clinical training in maternal mental health, where I spent five-years working in a perinatal mood disorders clinic- the only specifically focused maternal mental health clinic in the Midwest at the time. I have extensive experience working with individuals, couples, families and groups.
I have expanded my work to include medical social work both in and out of the hospital. I have eight-years of experience working in healthcare social work. Navigating the healthcare system can be scary. It may be intimidating to talk to physicians, especially after traumatic delivery or other negative experiences in healthcare. As a therapist, I can help you better understand the medical system and advocate for yourself.
I practice from a trauma-informed lens while incorporating cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), strengths-based therapy, narrative therapy and solution-focused skills. I strive to maximize cultural strength as motherhood looks different for everyone.
People fair better when they have support during time of crisis.
I believe in honoring individual and families’ unique stories of pain or loss and celebrating their triumphs. I also assist my clients with connecting to their spirituality as it may help them on their journey. I believe in partnering with my clients, offering a supportive presence in their healing journey, redefining pain into hope, and loss into opportunity.
