 About Me

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and I received my Masters in Social Work at University of Illinois at Chicago. I have extensive experience with women's issues, as well as experience working with families going through life changes and transitions.

In addition to working as a therapist at Jamie Kreiter & Associates Therapy, I work as a medical social worker at Northwestern Medicine’s COMPASS Program in the department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Here, I offer effective treatment options within a clinical team to pregnant and postpartum women struggling with depression, anxiety or bipolar mood disorders. I understand that pregnant and postpartum women are deeply impacted by both mental health and contributing outside factors. I bring this perspective to my therapeutic work.

Therapeutic Focus

Pregnancy and postpartum are often thought of to be some of the happiest moments in a person's life. However, it can also bring on difficult feelings and emotions. For many women, the experience can be challenging and overwhelming.

After birth and delivery, feelings of depression or anxiety can become more severe and overwhelming disrupting a new mom’s ability to function. Sometimes this is due to underlying symptoms, intense changes in hormones, or a traumatic birth experience. My hospital experience helps me to treat these issues within the framework of a deep medical understanding as well as with the compassion of a mental health professional.

Therapy can be a crucial aid to managing symptoms and transitions. The relationship between a woman and therapist needs to have a strong foundation based on collaboration, empathy, and openness. I employ various techniques such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Strengths Based Therapy, Mindfulness, Behavioral Action, and Motivational Interviewing to my work. For me, it's important to understand the whole person, not just the issues that may be presenting in someone’s life at the time of therapy.

Every woman is different and has her own story to share. Through working together, we will establish a relationship that is most fitting to you and what your needs may be.
